A 14-year-old boy died in a chain-reaction incident that occurred on a Brooklyn street due to an unlicensed vehicle that was speeding, according to authorities on Sunday.
Rayan Salmon, 45, has been charged by the police with aggravated unlicensed operation following the Saturday night collision that claimed the life of 14-year-old Christian Antoine when he was walking home from his father’s home.
At around 6:15 p.m., Salmon was approaching E. 81st St. while driving a 2018 Mercedes SUV and traveling west on Glenwood Rd. at an “unsafe speed,” according to an NYPD spokeswoman. Police reported that Salmon’s Mercedes sped through the intersection, past two double-parked cars, and into the path of a second vehicle, a 2017 GMC pickup truck that was halted at a stop sign on E. 81st St.
According to the authorities, Salmon eventually struck the GMC, then spun around and struck the teenager with the driver’s side of his SUV.
Antoine was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.
