A spate of overnight shootings in Brooklyn killed over a half-dozen individuals on Wednesday night, according to investigators – just hours after NYC Mayor Eric Adams claimed “crime is down” in the Big Apple in his third State of the Union address.
Police have not stated if they think there is any connection between the shootings, which took place in Park Slope, Clinton Hill, and Crown Heights within a four-hour period.
The initial shots were fired near Crown Heights on Schenectady Avenue. When police arrived on the scene just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, they discovered that a man, 37, had been shot in the neck. At the hospital, they declared him dead. As of right now, one person was held in connection with the shootings.
The NYPD responded to another 911 call about a man shot near Atlantic and Rockaway avenues in Brownsville less than thirty minutes later, just before midnight. They came upon a 28-year-old who had sustained several gunshot wounds to the torso. A hospital declared him dead as well.
Then, shortly after one in the morning on Thursday, police were called to Park Slope’s 2nd Street. Two individuals, ages 34 and 34, were discovered with gunshot wounds to their heads. At the scene, both were declared deceased.
Just before three in the morning, there was one last fatality in the borough, this time in Clinton Hill. On Hall Street, a 35-year-old male was discovered shot in the head by police responding to a 911 call. At the hospital, they declared him dead.
All of the investigations are still underway, and none of the victims have been identified.
