Upstate New York is the perennial “poor relative” of the Big Apple, a place that is frequently the butt of jokes and gets no respect from its downstate neighbor.
Now Zillow, the Real estate juggernaut, is predicting that Buffalo, N.Y. also known as The City of Good Neighbors, is set to be the hottest housing market in the country in 2024.
The city edged out communities in Ohio, Indiana and Rhode Island for the No. 1 spot.
What does Buffalo have to offer that propelled it to the top of that coveted list?
The 10 communities on Zillow’s list that are predicted to have hot markets share one factor: the demand for new houses is high but the number of homes for sale is low. But a recent increase in new jobs, steady home values and the number of newly-approved home construction projects are what sent Buffalo to the top of Zillow’s list, the real estate website stated.
“2024′s hottest markets all boast solid economic fundamentals, relatively fast-moving for-sale housing inventory, plentiful likely buyers and expectations for stable home values,” Zillow wrote.
Here are the Top 10 places Zillow expects to boast the hottest housing markets in 2024:
Buffalo, N.Y.
Cincinnati, Ohio
Columbus, Ohio
Indianapolis, Indiana
Providence, Rhode Island
Atlanta, Georgia
Charlotte, North Carolina
Cleveland, Ohio
Orlando, Florida
Tampa, Florida
This is not the only great news that has emerged for Buffalo. Just weeks before, the city was crowned the No. 1 city in America by Clever Real Estate. And that’s not all. The City of Good Neighbors was also recently named the nicest city in America by Reader’s Digest and one of the best places to retire in 2024 by U.S. News and World Report.
