A blazing 5-alarm fire ripped through a row of Bronx businesses early Wednesday morning, injuring at least one person.
According to the FDNY, the fire broke out just before 3:30 am at Bunny’s Deli Cold Cut City at West 231st Street and Broadway in the Kingsbridge neighborhood.
Dozens of videos posted to Citizen App showed massive flames and plumes of thick black smoke rising into the air, as well as hundreds of firemen battling the conflagration from the ground and tower ladders.
Seven local businesses – including a meat market, a seafood market, a pizzeria, a flower shop, a cleaning service, a barbershop, and a tax preparation firm, have apparently been completely destroyed by the fire or have experienced water damage as a result of the firefighting operations.
One individual required medical care for a minor injury.
The FDNY did not immediately provide information on the fire’s cause. One witness, however, mentioned that there was a live music celebration in the deli on Tuesday night, just hours before the fire.
