New York is the worst city in the nation to drive in, according to a recent research by the route planning website Circuit. Residents there spend the highest amount of time—236 hours on average annually—in peak hour traffic, more than any other American metropolis.
The organization considered five major elements inside each city to determine the ranking: the amount of time spent in rush hour annually, the amount of time spent in traffic congestion annually, the amount of money spent on fuel due to congestion annually, the last mile speed, and the number of fatal automobile accidents.
Not surprisingly, New York topped the list the previous year as well, registering a low score in a study that focused on the worst cities for delivery drivers.
In an attempt to persuade people to avoid waiting in traffic jams and handle the streets more skillfully, officials have also produced a list of days when there is heavy traffic in New York City.
