On August 19, tenor Alessandro Lora will join the New York City Opera Orchestra in Bryant Park for a special concert of Italian favorites. Starting at 7pm, the young talent from Vicenza will perform a diverse Italian repertoire including folk, popular, and traditional Neapolitan songs along with operatic favorites.
Lora’s performance will be conducted by Maestro Diego Basso, founder of the Orchestra Musico Sinfonica Italiana and the prestigious Art of Voice Academy, and Maestro Maurizio Barbacini, globally-known conductor who has appeared with many of the world’s great opera companies, including L’Opéra de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Arena di Verona and the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
“We are delighted to return as a part of Bryant Park Picnic Performances presented by Bank of America for the 8th consecutive year,” Michael Capasso, General Director of New York City Opera, commented. “Our increasingly elaborate productions have drawn thousands of New Yorkers and tourists for free. It is truly ‘The People’s Opera.’”
The concert is free and open to the public. Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis. You can bring your own blanket and picnic or you can purchase food and drinks from tents on the East side of the lawn. If you cannot attend the performance, it will be livestream broadcasted via Bryant Park’s website and social media platforms.
