Festival of Cinema NYC returns to the Regal UA Midway in Forest Hills, Queens from August 4 – 13. The film festival will be screening over 100 independent short and feature length films from local filmmakers and from filmmakers as far as Turkey, Spain, Denmark, The Philippines, Germany, and more. Programming includes short and feature length narratives and documentaries that explore themes such as family, mental illness, LGBTQIA+, People of Color, Women in Film, and current events. In addition, this year we are participating in the Theaters Unsilenced Initiative. As part of the initiative, participating filmmakers have added subtitles and captioning allowing us to make the festival accessible to individuals Director Dito Montiel to receive Honorary Award at the 2023 Festival of Cinema NYC.

Queens native director Dito Montiel will be in attendance for a special screening of his 2006 breakthrough film “A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints”, which will be followed by a moderated 60 minute Q&A.

For the first time ever, Festival of Cinema NYC will be presenting staged readings of our unproduced script finalists.
