Today New York City is hosting the traditional Puerto Rico Day parade.
The event, which is now in its 66th year, will begin at 11 a.m. and travel along Fifth Avenue from 44th to 79th street.
The theme for this year is “Música, Cultura y Alegría” (Spanish for “Music, Culture and Joy”) and honors Puerto Rico’s musical talent, vibrant culture, and upbeat spirit – as well as the Puerto Rican community of Aguadilla.
Around a million onlookers are anticipated to throng the streets of Manhattan to take in the parade’s attractions.
“The NPRDP Board selected this theme because these words embody the essence of the 2023 celebration, and they encapsulate the tributes and honorees we will recognize during the Parade and related events,” Louis Maldonado Pérez, NPRDP board member and former board Chair, said in a statement.
