Alessandro Ambrosoli and his daughter Giovanna Ambrosoli in conversation with Fabio Finotti, Istituto Italiano di Cultura-NY Director.
“Ambrosoli – A history of family and business” (published by Mondadori Electa) is a book to celebrate Ambrosoli’s centenary from its foundation. An adventure that begun with Giovanni Battista Ambrosoli, founder of the honey dynasty who, in a handkerchief-town a stone’s throw from the Swiss border, established his home and shop. A century-long story, made up of dynamism and affection, the story of a cohesive family faithful to an exemplary work ethic and commitment, for decades; a rarity in the history of commerce, not only in Italy, which even the Bocconi University has taken as a case-history model.
In the words of Alessandro Ambrosoli: “The book happened one year ago. I was 89 years old and was relaxing at home during the pandemic. During this time, I was able to reflect on my life, like in a movie in slow motion. The beautiful family I grew up with, and I and worked with. I’m the youngest of eight, and still living. Why not write this beautiful story of Family and Business and how it grew together? The craft is typical Italian, an industrial enterprise created and developed step by step in a private and familiar atmosphere. I needed an Editor first class and more important a person who would be able to write this adventure in a way to capture the reader. Silvia Cadrega helped me do a wonderful job. We are excited that the book will be presented in New York at the Italian Cultural Institute. The reader may ask, why in New York? Two reasons: I had a wonderful period of my life when in 1960 I lived in New York with my wife. We were just married, and I was learning many things for my future work. I am still very tied to the US. Second is the pleasure to bring to NYC my story.”
