There are four examinations opened for January for the following positions: Institution safety officer, security officer, security officer (Spanish language) and security services assistant 1.
You can apply for most state examinations online. The application fee for the exams listed for the month of January is $25.
After you apply, you will receive a notification indicating whether you are approved to take the examination. If your application is approved and the examination consists of a written test, you will receive an admission notice telling you where and when to report for the test approximately 10 days before test day. You are required to bring this notice with you to the test center.
If your application is not approved, you will be notified by mail with a justification provided.
New York State employs hundreds of thousands of people in its agencies. Taking a test is the way to get started in the hiring process for most of these positions — most of which are located in New York City, Buffalo, Syracuse and Binghamton.
