Italian entrepreneur Giosetta Capriati has gifted New York University’s Casa Italiana a “generous” sum in honor of her late sister Alba, which will be used to hold a series of conferences on women’s excellence.
Ms Capriati, a longtime backer and member of Casa Italiana, will support five conferences honoring exceptional women and their accomplishments, to be held each March for the next five years, during Women’s History Month.
It is not the first time that Giosetta chose Casa Italiana to memorialize one of her loved ones. As she explains:
“When in 2006 my mother, Ettorina Morelli Capriati passed away, I donated a tree in her memory for Casa Italiana’s garden. That Japanese maple (in the wo) is now more than six feet tall. I wanted to think about my mom every time I went to Casa. My sister Alba was very attached to our mother and assisted her with love and dedication in her final years. I would like them to be remembered here together in New York, the city where I decided to live and that they loved, and in Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò, which for me is a second family!”
