As the second US stop for Irene Dionisio‘s research, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura is presenting a selection of works on the theme of germination viewed as a generous and generative act of nature, and at the same time as a dramatic spread of a material and moral contagion.
The artist reflects on this theme through three works: the video “Germ Theory” (2020), produced by Castello di Rivoli, on digital trauma; the film “Sponde” (Shore in the Safe North Sun) (2015), produced by a.titolo and Mammut Film, which tells the story of friendship between two gravediggers on opposite shores of the Mediterranean Sea; the fable “A.A.V.V. The talking seed” (2022) developed – in collaboration with the curator and artist Rebecca De Marchi – during the Art Omi residency, a result of a choral narration between African field workers and artistic and cultural operators.
Irene Dionisio (1986) is a filmmaker and artist. Her productions range from films to installations, to sound works, video-installations and documentaries.
