The new aesthetic ideal in the Palm Beach of Trump loyalists no longer comes from Hollywood, but from Mar-a-Lago: according to two well-known plastic surgeons, more and more clients–mostly women, but also men–are asking to look like Ivanka Trump.
The expression “Mar-a-Lago Face” describes a face with sculpted features, full lips, wide-open eyes and a taut, smooth forehead devoid of any trace of anxiety. It is the new canon of beauty among Florida’s conservative elites, fueled by the post-attack Trumpian wave.
Dr. Mark Epstein, a dual-certified plastic surgeon in New York City, recounted how he first noticed a sudden surge in demand for surgeries in late summer last year–a period that usually represents his “dead season”–just as support for Trump was growing in the wake of the failed assassination attempt against him.
Cosmetic procedures can range from Botox and fillers to jawline and chin implants and the increasingly popular wire facelifts, a less invasive alternative to the traditional facelift that provides a lifted appearance with minimal recovery time.
A facelift can cost as much as six figures. A Botox session at Norman Rowe’s practice in Manhattan, the Hamptons and Palm Beach, for example, ranges from $500 to $3,000, while filler can range from $500 to $5,000, depending on the amount injected. Experts explain that Botox typically lasts three to four months, while filler needs to be touched up every six to 12 months.
“I’m seeing a lot of patients in their late 50s and early 60s coming back for a second facelift,” Upper East Side facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sean Alemi previously told the Post. “I would say there’s been a 30 percent increase from a year ago.”
