The new social application launched by Democratic consultant Joe Trippi, Sez US, has a very clear goal: to revolutionize the dynamics of the web by rejecting rage-bait, or posts created to provoke outrage, arguments and disputes on various platforms.
Most existing social networks, including Instagram, X, TikTok, incentivize rage-bait. The creators who populate these platforms are paid based on the views of their posts. Provocative content is usually the most viewed on the web.
Sez Us wants to break this vicious cycle by allowing users to rate other users’ posts based on approval, influence, insight, relevance, and politeness. The idea of the app is to promote civil and constructive discourse among its members, thus avoiding hate speech and arguments over futile issues.
Such a project is definitely ambitious, as it aims to change and disrupt the current look and feel of the web and especially of social networks, where controversy and dissing between creators is the daily occurrence.
“What makes Sez Us different is we are a civil place for human beings – not an environment of hate-filled, name calling and angry rhetoric that has been the norm, propagating across incumbent platforms,” said Trippi. “Irrespective of your political, personal, religious, social or demographic interests, you should be able to have a civil, safe conversation and be treated with dignity and respect.”
“Bad actors will quickly learn that on Sez Us they have freedom of speech, but no guarantee of freedom of reach,” the CEO of the new app added, “Unlike other platforms, the Sez Us reputation engine truly allows the user base to own its conversations by only elevating civil, rational and respectful discussions. Users can choose who and what content they want to see or avoid.”
