Jessica Simpson’s fashion brand is the most successful celebrity fashion business of all celebrity lines, with $1 billion in annual revenue. The singer, actress, and now entrepreneur beats out other superstars’ fashion lines, including Kim Kardashian’s and Beyoncé’s.
In 2006, Jessica Simpson launched the Jessica Simpson Collection. While her initial focus was on shoes and clothing, she eventually expanded, with her array of products now including lines of maternity clothes, perfumes, bedroom decor, athletic wear, watches, handbags, sunglasses, bathing suits, and even luggage.
She told CBS News that offering clothes in all sizes is essential to her business model. “It’s very important for me to let every woman feel included. If I make a shirt, I’m going to make sure that every size is available. Because I have been every size, trust me!”
Her business has had its ups and downs, though. She originally partnered with Vince Camuto as a merchandising company, and later with Sequential. While her company was generating $1 billion in revenue, she earned just $13 million.
In 2021, Jessica Simpson put in an offer to buy her brand back from Sequential, which had filed for bankruptcy. She announced on Instagram in October 2021, “I am truly humbled to reclaim 100% ownership of MY name and my brand… We beat all odds stacked against us… The entire Jessica Simpson Collection belongs to us!“
The Jessica Simpson Collection continues to grow. In April 2024, she launched an exclusive, affordable collaboration with Walmart, rolling out a 100-item line of women’s and plus-size fashion, swimwear, and jewelry. The brand also remains widely available through major retailers like Dillard’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, and Amazon.
