Milan born, internationally acclaimed Italian/American pioneer artist Bettina Werner, “The Salt Queen”, known as the female Andy Warhol of New York, lives between her loft in the heart of the historic Wall Street District, in the Philippe Starck building, and the romantic Lake Maggiore, where at the moment, she is working on her exhibitions at her Castle Museum in Italy.
Bettina Werner is one of the highlighted artists who donated one of her unique salt crystal artwork, the “Regal LOVE Note to VIENNA” from her renowned “MUSIC NOTES Art Collection“ to the Largest international Rotary Charity Auction ever.

Princess Birgitta of Sweden, who has supported the work of her daughter Désirée von Bohlen und Halbach for many years, is the patron of the charity art auction at Sotheby’s.
The charity auction is organized by the Rotary Clubs of Cologne-Ville in cooperation with Vienna West, Vienna Belvedere.
The proceeds will go to Desideria Care e.V. Founded in 2017 and based in Munich, the association’s mission is to support relatives of dementia sufferers in their psychologically stressful job of providing care and support.
Curator and art consultant Michael Schmidt-Ott has collected 208 donations of works by 200 renowned artists from 53 countries – from Australia and Morocco to Puerto Rico and Zimbabwe. The gallery value of the paintings, sculptures, prints, NFTs and photographs adds up to 1.4 million euros. When they go under the hammer of Sotheby’s auctioneers Andrea Jungmann, Philipp Demeter and Gallus Pesendorfer on October 5th 2023 in Cologne’s Palais Oppenheim, it will be the largest international Rotary charity auction ever. Probably worldwide.
Stars of the international art market have donated their works for this purpose, such as the sculptor El Anatsui from Ghana or New York artist Bettina Werner, “La Regina del Sale”, who invented the technique of textured, colored salt as an art medium in the early 1980s, the first in art history.
