The “Blue Wave” was all the rage during the election season in 2018. In fact, during Halloween that year, several trick-or-treaters showed up my house, along with the parents who were dressed in blue (blue capes, shirts, jackets). As their children were selecting treats, I asked what their costumes represented, and I was met with, “the blue wave.” Ah, yes, of course. After all, what else would limousine liberals in our neighborhood dress as? For those of you who recall the outcome, the Federal and State elections 18 months into the Trump presidency, it was not a “blue wave”, rather, a “ripple” at best.
This year’s midterm elections suggest something much more significant: “the Red Wave”. No, I will not wear a red cape, nor dress in a red costume that virtue-signals to the neighborhood during Halloween. However, I can all but guarantee that come November, Republican candidates will sweep local, state and federal elections throughout the land of the free. Tired of fascist style never-ending Covid restrictions (I have yet to come across 2 scientists that agree), crime, crime and crime, people will no doubt, vote for change. The caveat: IF former President Trump doesn’t harp on how his election was “stolen”. In that case I’d go with my gentleman’s bet that this will indeed result in a “Red Wave.”
Trump as the Republican nominee for 2024? Perhaps. The Biden administration’s obsession with wokeness has even the likes of Hollywood A-lister elitist comedian Bill Maher concerned, lamenting that the left is focusing on the wrong things. Bear in mind that you have to show a Covid ID to step into a Burger King in Manhattan but you don’t need an ID to vote. You know things are bad when you go to the grocery store and shelves are empty; high-octane gas averages over $4 a gallon, inflation is rampant, and crime is completely out of control to the point that the unelected, appointed liberal NY Governor, Kathy Hochul, recently sat down with the newly elected Manhattan DA, Michael Bragg, to put him on notice that should he implement his soft-on-crime policies, her gubernatorial powers entitle her to remove him from office. After all, just walk around San Francisco, Baltimore and Philadelphia to name a few cities, and you’ll see why DA Bragg is a disaster waiting to happen and yet, another gift for Republicans. Of course, at the expense of innocent shopkeepers, restaurateurs, law-abiding citizens and police.

Not to mention that one our adversaries—Russia–is on the brink of invading Ukraine. Vladimir Putin, while resembling a Bond villain, is incredibly strategic and will pounce at the opportunity to take advantage of weakness as he has in the past. President Biden is weak and inept at best. Cue the Republican primaries. While Trump’s ego and self-promotion–not to mention divisive style-turned off a large portion of the American populace, he certainly was not weak on foreign policy and defended the interests of the USA and its allies.
People ask, will he run? Will he become the Republican nominee in 2024? Apparently, Silvio Berlusconi’s favorite philosophical tract was Erasmus of Rotterdam’s, “In Praise of Folly” (1511), which he quoted at Forza Italia’s first party conference. On that occasion he shared his interpretation of Erasmus’ philosophy– which became the cornerstone of his political career. He said, “What fascinated me about the work of Erasmus was in particular the central thesis of madness as a vital creative force: the more his inspiration springs from the depths of the irrational the more original is the innovator…True and genuine wisdom is thus not found in rational behavior, which is necessarily complicit with the normal and thus by definition sterile, but in in far-sighted, visionary ‘madness’.”
Well, I’ll take madness versus weakness and ineptitude. This may serve as a roadmap for Trump to become not only the Republican nominee in 2024, but also become Trump 47.
